Tina 1, MewtwoWarrior 0
Feb. 26th, 2007 06:08 pmMy classes today were rather uneventful, though, in French we reviewed for the test by playing Jeopardy of a sort. It was fun, and silly. The team that I was on won, yay! The teacher said that we'd get two points on our test on Wednesday. I'm gonna need them. XD
When I went to pick up a taco and chips at my favorite taco place, one of the lunch ladies told the other one that my voice was quiet and cute and she liked it. XD
Then, on to horse class. My friend that I take it with was feeling bad, so her boyfriend drove us both to the class. My friend didn't go to class, but I headed on. We stood out in the cold for a while, the teacher was a bit late. Everyone in the class chatted about horses, and I asked a few questions, here's what I learned:
Tina is 30 years old! O_O
Someone had mentioned in a previous class that they had set flame to the horses to get off their winter coats. I was curious, so I asked about that too. Turns out they get like a roofing torch and turn it real low and run it all over the horse. It just usually catches the long pieces of fur. But, sometimes large bits of the horse catch on fire and they brush it out. XD I'm sure the flaming horse looks pretty interesting...
Finally, we were allowed into the barn. We had a quiz, and I got 8 out of 10 questions right. I went and talked to the teacher about my grades in the class, and he said I was below average. :( (Though, most everyone in the class is either on the horse team or they have horses at home, so the average is always gonna be better than me.) Then, we went to get our horses. It was windy and drizzly outside. Tina was at the far end of the pen, and she kinda trotted away, but she stuck her nose in the halter and seemed to get along quite nicely.
Tina seemed like she wanted to eat, so I had a bit of trouble getting her back to the barn, but not too much. I got her tied up and started currying and brushing her. Tina had rolled in the mud a bit, so it took me a while to get her all cleaned up. Once again, they didn't have a bridle for Tina, so I had to ask about it. I had my characteristic issues with the saddle, issues carrying it, issues picking it up, issues with the saddle pad, issues putting the saddle on the saddle pad, and issues with tying it up. While I went bridle hunting with one of the assistant girls, one of the other assistant girls fixed my saddle mess.
When I went to put the bridle on, the assistant girl fussed at me for doing it wrong. Turned out I had the earpiece upside down. I didn't know how it was supposed to go, and I said so. The girl fussed at me telling me that they had told me how it was supposed to be done. I guess I was having issues during that time, the teacher always is talking to the others while I'm running behind.
During all this of cleaning and saddling Tina, there was one girl who was afraid of her horse. I've never seen anyone in the class uncomfortable, and they always get everything done before I do. Two of the assistant girls at different points talked really nice to her and encouraged her.
Once Tina was ready to go, I tried to get on her, but every time I shifted my weight, she'd start walking. I even tried putting the reins down, because they told me previously that I was holding the reins not evenly, and that was making her walk in circles. Well, the assistant girl came and fussed at me for not holding the reins, and I told her why I did that. Then, I showed her that even without the reins, when I just put my hand near Tina, she'd start walking. Well, the girl then fussed at me and said that I had let Tina get away with walking in circles so much in the past, that she knows she can get away with it. So, she jerked the reins and got Tina to stop. I got on Tina and started walking her.
Then, the assistant girl fussed at me for having my stirrups wrong. I told her I didn't know how to make them right, and she fussed at me saying that they had shown us how to size them. Guess I was having issues then too. So, I sized them the way she showed me, then tried to get on Tina.
Every time I shifted my weight, Tina moved. We walked in circles like that for the rest of the class. I never did get back on Tina. While the rest of the class was walking and trotting around the arena, me and Tina were walking in circles. *sigh* So, we went and put everything away, I had issues with all my stuff, and someone had to help me because the bridle fell.
They told us to put conditioner in the horses' manes and tails, so I asked where the conditioner was. They told me that Tina didn't need conditioning, but that I should help someone else. So, the nearest person I saw, I asked her if she wanted me to help. She was rather agreeable, so we started cleaning up her horse. It turned out to be Bobby, the first horse me and my friend had worked with. Bobby had bitten my friend and caused us other problems. But, the girl was talking about how layed back Bobby was and how you could do most anything and she would care. *sigh*
So, after cleaning Bobby, I went and got Tina to put her away. On my way out, the teacher told me that I just should get on Tina next time. I should bump her mouth, and then just get on. >_> Bumping her mouth doesn't help any, she won't listen to me. Another girl was heading that way, and she talked nice to Tina again. After she got her horse put away, I was putting Tina away, and we had this conversation:
Girl: "You smell like coconut."
Me: ... (I had used coconut conditioner on Bobby, and put what was left on my hands on Tina, so I wasn't sure who she was talking to.)
Girl: "If it makes you feel any better."
Me: *laughs and says something agreeable/silly* (I can't remember XD)
So, we headed back, chatting a bit. Some cows had been mooing a bit earlier, and I heard one moo again, so I said, "Someone must be irritating the cows." The girl made some sort of comment, then started babbling. She looked at me and asked if I had seen Harry Potter, I said that I did, but I wasn't an expert. (I do watch and read the Harry Potter stuff, but I'm not a super fan like some people. XD) She said that the guy who played Harry Potter was in a new movie and he was naked with horses. ... She said that there were pictures of him naked with white horses.
HOW WRONG IS THAT???!!!???
I'm mildly curious about this movie now....but more disturbed than anything. XD
Anyways, I headed on out after grabbing my stuff. My friend and her boyfriend were waiting for me in the car. ^_^ That was really nice of them. I told them about my disastrous day, and that I was considering Withdrawing from the class, in order to save my scholarship. I've gotta keep good grades to keep my scholarship.
Well, that's all for my adventures right now.
Tomorrow I've got my leadership thing and studying for French. Whoopee.
