NaNoWriMo: Chapter 12

Just finished level 11/Chapter 12 for my Portal novelization, yaay!  ^_^  It's another split chapter, done over two days.  Good thing I did, because I forgot to mention something yesterday that I needed to go back and add in.  XD

Will start on another chapter here in a bit.  :D

Any crit/advice/comments on this chapter would be great!  ^_^


Chapter notes:

-Ahhh, so much that goes on in this level!  *flails*  Probably going to split it up over two days like the previous one.
-Getting the orange portal ability was almost more satisfying this time.  XD
-Do I repeat phrases from chapter to chapter too much?
- :|  The slidey doors look weird and I don't know how to describe them.  :|
-I stopped mentioning the cameras because I stopped noticing them.  Is this in character for Chell?
-The floor is kinda weird in the first room, it has several stairs, I didn't know how to describe them.  :|
-No longer counting Pellet bounces, is this important?
-Ha ha, the first time I ever played this level, I had such a mess with the Pellets.  XD
-Was talking about the portals in the main room again superfluous?
-Forgot to write about the last window.  XD  Had to go back and add that in.  XD
-I have NO idea how the upgrade works, just that it is an upgrade.  I'm gonna make something up, so please tell me if it doesn't make any sense.  XD

NaNoWriMo: Chapter 13

Just finished level 12/Chapter 13 of my Portal novelization!  ^_^  I'm not happy with it though.  :|  It wasn't any fun to write at all.  I added a few things that I liked, but overall, it felt lackluster.  :|

The next level looks more interesting, it's got all sorts of neat stuff, buttons and cubes and Pellets.  :D  I'm not gonna work on it tonight though, tireed and I want a sandwich.  XD  Also just kind of irritated from this level.

If there's any crit or advice you have for this chapter, please let me know!  It can only make it better.  :D


Chapter notes:

-Describing the first part of the room feels weird.
-Since Chell now has control of both portals, I've stopped identifying them by color for the most part.  Any objections?
- :|  I'm not enjoying writing this level.  Bleh.
-Didn't describe the grillwork and orange lights behind the concrete sections, is that detracting from anything?
-Everything about this chapter feels off.  :|
-Gonna get this one done tonight so I don't have to deal with it tomorrow.  Shouldn't take too much longer.  :|
-Ahhh, I hope it wasn't too bad to have Chell smack into the wall.  You pretty much do in the game.  XD
-Chell's minor bumps from the previous flinging chapter and this one healing quickly kind of foreshadow the rapid healing that occurs when you get shot by turrets later.  :D  Chell heals crazy fast in those levels.  XD
-I hope the two buttons don't get confusing.  :|  Might change the levitate stuff button to a switch later.
-I hope her adjusting her fall wasn't too repetitive,  :|
-Should her nose have broken from running into the walls from being flung?
-Might have missed something with spellcheck, it was a little odd.  I think I may have missed something on a previous chapter, too, but I'm not sure which one.
-I honestly don't care a hill of beans about the word count for this chapter.  I could have added more stuff, but I just wanted it over with.  The only thing really missing is descriptions of the orange lights and grill that cover the area behind the concrete, and I think everybody's sick of me talking about that, I have described it a zillion times previously, it feels like.  EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME LOOKS THE SAME, OKAY?  XD

I used the Portal sound effects to listen to GLaDOS' opening speech for this level again.

Okay Day

Today was okay.

Woke up a bit early today.  *yawn*

Me and Mom went to eat at a local Chinese restaurant with Pappaw today.  I had shrimp and fried rice, it was pretty good and had a lot of egg in it.  :D

Then, we all went to talk to the money guy about Pappaw's investments.

After that, me and Mom went home to spend time with Dad and see him off.

After he left, we went to the used bookstore and sold a few things.  :D


Been working on my Portal novelization for NaNoWriMo, got two chapters done tonight.  I don't like the second one, though.  XD

I may not be around tomorrow night.  Teen Night is gonna cut into my writing time, but I may just do the minimum-ish so I can get on.  :D
